Celebrating our 2.0
On July 20th we celebrated surviving two years of not killing one another- which is a huge feat for both of us!
Two years ago we had our very first date at Mellow Mushroom in Jacksonville Beach. Little did we know that our lives would change that night. We spent the evening laughing, chatting and getting to know one another. We discussed our interests and shared funny stories from our past while we sipped on beer and scarfed down a delicious Thai-Dye Pizza.
Afterwards, we went back to Ashley's beach bungalow where we attempted to build a dresser from IKEA. If you know anything about IKEA furniture, you understand how something like this can really challenge a person's patience and temperament. In fact, building IKEA furniture has lead to countless domestic disturbances. That night, I knew that if we could survive that, we could probably survive just about anything.
After we gave up on building the dresser, we went to a local bar where we watched my friend's band play. We danced the night away. The evening was perfect!
For the last two years, we have revisited Mellow Mushroom to celebrate that fateful day. Rather than having dinner there this year, we had bottomless mimosas, bruschetta and Thai-Dye Pizza.
Last year we took a selfie of us sitting in the same booth that we first met in. This year, Ashley was a trooper and went along with my idea to take a picture of us holding a framed photo of our first anniversary. Next year (if we remember!), we'll take a picture of us holding the picture above so that all 3 anniversary pictures can be captured in the same shot.
We had a wonderful time celebrating our anniversary together and are excited about what the future may have in store for us.
