True American Party
Last night we hosted a party to celebrate the end of this dreadful election. Being a history nerd, I had so much fun planning everything out.
While we were hunkered down for Hurricane Matthew, we introduced our friend Amiee to one of our favorite shows, New Girl. On the show the housemates play a drinking game called True American. We invited a handful of friends to join in on the fun.
True American is like a grown up version of Candyland. The ultimate goal was to go through all of these beers and reach the bottle of whiskey by finishing lyrics or famous quotes, matching numbers with other players, etc. We'll go into more details about the directions of the game in another post since we've had people ask us how it works.
We had so much fun moving about our spaces and downing our beers in order to capture the king (the whiskey).
One of the signature features of our parties is our photo booth area. Ashley ordered these amazing presidential masks. I see myself rocking my Lincoln mask for many parties to come!
Ashley also made these cherry bombs (cherries soaked in vodka and dipped in white chocolate) and red, white and blue sangria.
Annnnnnd yes... I totally named the cherries Cherry B. Arthur after Chester B. Arthur. The sangria transformed into Calvin Kool-aid (Calvin Coolidge) and before I could stop myself I ended up giving all of our foods and drinks presidential names.
Yep... that totally happened. We added a few more touches of red, white and blue and stars and stripes to complete the look.
We had a great time celebrating the end of the election with our friends. The house was full of people with different views and philosophies on government and we managed to go the entire evening without any political discussions. We're an opinionated bunch so if we can do it...why can't everyone else?
