Our Personal Paradise!
The Swim Family has always loved Roatan, Honduras so I was really excited about bringing Ashley here for the first time. Typically when we visit we head over to the West End for a bit of snorkeling. This time, however, we opted to try something new. My dad read about a place called Little French Key online and as soon as we watched the videos from their website we knew we had to visit.
Little French Key is a private island just a short ferry ride away from Roatan. When we arrived on the island, we were the first visitors of the day. We were given a tour of the island and introduced to the animals that they have rescued.
We got to play with a baby jaglion cub, hold a monkey and visit the lion cubs. One of the lion cubs was very interested in Harper and stalked her. It was uncomfortably funny!
Next, we staked out a cove where we could relax for the remainder of the day. Our cove was perfect! There was a small jetty that blocked the bigger waves from coming in and there were shaded areas for those who wanted to stay out of the sun. A table was within wading distance for those of us who liked to take our libations out into the water.
Our visit to the island included a fabulous lunch and a two free alcoholic beverages per person. We also had all access to the sporting equipment. We kayaked, used the stand up paddle boards and snorkeled the cove.
We had an incredible time at Little French Key, it's safe to say we will most definitely be back! We found a new favorite place in Roatan!
